About Namba Yasaka Shrine

Namba Yasaka Shrine was called Namba Shimo-no-miya, the ujigami of the Namba flats. From the Enkyu years of Emperor Go-Sanjo it was known as a Gion / Gozu Tenno shrine. Shinbutsu bunri ended the temple side. It became a gosha in Meiji 5 (1872). The present honden was finished in May 1974 (Showa 49). The lion hall is 12 m high, 11 m wide, 10 m deep. Photograph the building from the precinct, not as a close-up of a sculpture. Enshrined is Susanoo. Tsunahiki on the third Sunday of January follows the Yamata-no-orochi story and was named an Osaka City intangible folk cultural asset in 2001, the first in the city. Summer Gion is 12-14 July. Namba-gion-tei rakugo is on the shrine calendar. Address 2-9-19 Motomachi, Naniwa-ku. Phone 06-6641-1149. Official site nambayasaka.jp. Ward page: city.osaka.lg.jp/naniwa. This is a shrine.
