About Dotonbori
Dotonbori is the canal that holds Minami together. Yasui Doton cut it in Keicho 17 (1612). Theatres and teahouses followed. Shochikuza is the last kabuki house on the bank. Comedy sits south at Namba Grand Kagetsu. The food street is Dotonbori-suji on the south bank. The photo stop is Ebisubashi, facing the sixth-generation Glico Sign at 1-10-1 Dotonbori. Tourists walk Kuromon, the sign, takoyaki, the river path, then Hozenji. Locals use the river for Bon Odori and Mantosai, Hozenji after work, Imamiya Ebisu in January, and Namba Yasaka as the ujigami. Soemoncho on the north bank is nightlife.
