Ikutama Summer Festival
生國魂祭
One of Osaka's Top 3 Summer Festivals — a 700-person procession with portable shrines and pillow-taiko drums marches from Ikutama Shrine to Osaka Castle and back, with ~1,000 street stalls lining the approach.
Dotonbori Bon Odori International
道頓堀盆おどりインターナショナル
The real August 8 Obon event on the Dotonbori canal — a bon odori party aiming to be the world's largest, with idol live shows, an international exchange stage, and open dancing from 18:00. Free to join.
Osaka Takigi Noh
大阪薪能
Outdoor fire-lit Noh theater (薪能) at Ikutama Shrine — Noh and Kyogen plays performed by firelight on the shrine grounds at the height of summer.
Hozenji Festival
法善寺祭り
Hozenji Temple's annual festival — safety prayer at the moss-covered Fudo-myoo, bunraku dedication, and senryu verse contest, in the heart of Dotonbori.
Dotonbori Halloween
道頓堀ハロウィン
Osaka's biggest unofficial Halloween — thousands of cosplayers and costumed revelers gather along the Dotonbori canal beneath the neon signs for one of Japan's most colorful nights.
Hikohachi Festival
彦八まつり
A rakugo (comic storytelling) festival honoring Yonezawa Hikohachi, the founder of Kamigata rakugo — the shrine grounds fill with yose theaters, street performances, and comedy.

Autumn Foliage at Osaka Castle Park

Osaka Castle Park's autumn foliage — a ~300-year-old ginkgo turns gold before the keep, a 1km ginkgo avenue, maples in Momiji Valley, and cherry-leaf reds in Nishinomaru Garden.

The Dotonbori canal's own illumination program — neon reflections on the water doubled by light installations along the Tombori River Walk, creating a uniquely Dotonbori winter nightscape.
Osaka Castle Illuminage

A million-ball illumination at Osaka Castle's Nishinomaru Garden — themed light zones recreate Dotonbori, Tsutenkaku, and other Osaka landmarks, with the castle keep rising above the grounds.
Dotonbori Winter Manto-sai
道頓堀 初春寿 万灯祭（冬）
The winter edition of the Dotonbori River Manto-sai — paper lanterns line the canal-side promenade from Ebisu Bridge to Tazaemon Bridge, bringing warm light to Dotonbori's winter nights.

Ikutama Shrine's Setsubun (bean-throwing) festival — driving out evil spirits and welcoming spring on the traditional last day of winter.
Dotonbori Yataimura Matsuri
道頓堀 屋台村 祭
Year-round traditional performances at the Dotonbori street food village — taiko drumming, yosakoi dance, bon odori, and Awa Odori by local troupes, with interactive workshops.
Namba Genki Matsuri
なんば元気まつり
EDION-sponsored summer festival at Namba Square in the heart of Namba. A USJ 25th anniversary stage, a Gamba Osaka OB talk show with Yasuda Michito and Kaji Ryo, FM802 DJ Tacty, and a TV mascot character parade — free to watch, with ticketed special seating.
Tenshiba Summer Festival
てんしば夏祭り
A two-day summer festival at Tenshiba, the lawn entrance area of Tennoji Park. A big yagura tower anchors bon odori to Kawachi Ondo and J-POP, with taiko drumming, paid handheld fireworks, and yatai stalls. Beginners are welcome — the choreography is explained.
Kitamido Bon Odori
北御堂盆おどり
A two-night bon odori at Kitamido (Nishi-Honganji Osaka Betsuin), a summer fixture in the Honmachi/Namba area. Free to join, with dancing around the temple grounds in the evening.
Namba Unkai — Sea of Clouds at Namba Parks
なんば雲海
Nankai’s first “Namba Unkai” wraps the rooftop Parks Garden in timed mist and light from 28 August through 1 November — a free after-dark walk through six cloud-sea spots above Namba Station.
Koiya Matsuri 2026
第27回 こいや祭り
The 27th Koiya Matsuri fills Osaka Castle Park’s Taiyo no Hiroba with student Yosakoi teams on 12–13 September 2026. More than 70 teams dance from 10:00 to 20:00; watching is free.
TV Osaka YATAI Fes! 2026

TV Osaka’s 11th YATAI Fes! packs about 60 food stalls and a free entertainment stage into Osaka Castle Park for six days over Silver Week, 18–23 September 2026.
Tombori River Jazz Boat
とんぼりリバージャズボート
Live jazz on a 40-minute Dotonbori canal cruise from Minatomachi Pier, running Friday–Sunday and holidays through 15 November 2026. Adults ¥3,500; rain cancels the sailing.
Naniwa Blues Festival 2026
