This uniquely named spot refers to one of Dotonbori's most talked-about signage collaborations, born from a legal dispute between Kinryu Ramen and a neighbouring landowner. In August 2024, the Osaka High Court ordered the removal of the dragon tail that extended from Kinryu Ramen's famous three-dimensional dragon signboard, as it protruded across a property boundary. Rather than discarding the severed tail, it was temporarily attached to the claw of the giant crab signboard at Osaka Kani Gen, a crab cuisine restaurant that opened in August 2024, creating an instant talking point. The collaboration ran from September 17 to October 10, 2024, with the dragon tail clamped between the crab's pincers. The creative stunt drew widespread media coverage and became a social media sensation, with visitors photographing the whimsical union of two of Dotonbori's most iconic signboard characters. Osaka Kani Gen's president expressed a desire to make the installation a new Dotonbori landmark and to help revitalise the area. While the installation was time-limited, the story endures as a quintessentially Osaka tale of humour, rivalry and showmanship. Visitors to Dotonbori can still see both the Kinryu Ramen dragon sign (now tailless) and the Kani Gen crab sign in close proximity, and the episode itself has become part of the neighbourhood's living folklore.
