A teppanyaki steakhouse in Shinsaibashi serving Japanese wagyu and Kobe-style beef cooked on an iron griddle.
Kobe Beef Steak Ken is a teppanyaki restaurant on the second floor of the Nippo Fine Plaza Building, a few minutes from Shinsaibashisuji. The restaurant specialises in Japanese beef, including Kobe-style cuts, seared on a hot iron griddle in front of diners.
The counter and table seating put you close to the chef, who prepares steak, seasonal vegetables and sides such as garlic rice or miso soup as part of set meals or à la carte options. Reservations are recommended, especially in the evening, as the intimate dining room and the quality of meat attract both tourists and locals.
For a splurge meal in Shinsaibashi, this is a solid choice if you want to experience teppanyaki without leaving central Osaka. Arrive hungry and be prepared to savour each bite, as the pace is usually unhurried and the beef is the star.

A truly top‑tier Kobe beef dining experience. The owners clearly master their craft, and the ingredients are of the highest possible quality. We were fortunate to enjoy A5‑grade Kobe, BMS 11/12 certified. The super‑premium meat, served in a warm, welcoming, authentic setting, left us thrilled.

An unforgettable experience. Following the staff’s suggestion, we ordered a chilled sake from Osaka – it was smooth and delicious. The filet was hands‑down the finest steak I’ve ever tasted. Chef Ken clearly takes his time while grilling, ensuring each piece is perfect.

Our first stop after arriving in Osaka was to make an in‑person reservation, as the restaurant doesn’t accept online bookings and requires a 5,000 JPY per‑person deposit. I had been eager to try it, and we opted for the set course, sampling both a small and a medium portion of Kobe beef loin. The staff even presented the cow’s “birth certificate” and explained its background. The meat was incredibly flavorful and juicy, and the wine and sake selections were excellent. I highly recommend the course menu—you won’t be disappointed. The team’s genuine hospitality made our visit truly memorable. Thank you for everything!

The cuisine was outstanding, and the venue is immaculate thanks to Ken and his colleague, who are dedicated to preserving the authentic legacy of Kobe beef. Ken is exceptionally warm, affable, and gladly shares detailed information about the meat…

My partner and I celebrated our anniversary there two days ago, and it was fantastic. The dishes were delicious and memorable, the vibe relaxed and cheerful. The chef turned out to be one of the funniest and most welcoming people we encountered in Japan, making us feel right at home. Strongly recommended!❤️❤️
